Mike has met many people who are working in some way with a particular orphanage, school, feeding program etc. Almost invariably, when the people find out that Mike has installed a water treatment system in Haiti, the people state that their group could also really use some sort of water treatment system.
It has become very clear to Mike that there is a tremendous need for a school in Haiti that can provide water treatment technologies to anyone who needs it. It is also clear that no one water treatment technology is a perfect fit for all locations in Haiti.
We are in the planning stages of a high school that trains children how different water treatment technologies work. The goal is to teach several different water treatment technologies at the school. Then, when any school, church or orphanage needs a water treatment option, they can visit the school and discuss their options with trained personnel.
The overall plan to build a water training school in Haiti includes the following steps:

(1) Mike Bellamy is a chemistry professor at Northwest Missouri State University. He is currently writing a training manual that will be used as part of the House of Hope Haiti curriculum. The manual will teach how the different water treatment technologies work that are commonly used in developing countries. See Water Treatment Options.

(2) Raise about $12,000 to purchase land to expand the ministry of the House of Hope Haiti. This money will be used to purchase approximately 2 acres of land near Kaliko, Haiti. The training school will be built near the existing House of Hope Haiti ministry. The location is ideal since it is (a) located on the main highway and is easily accessible, (b) is located near a hotel that is frequented by many mission groups, and (c) is centrally located in Haiti.

(3) Seek grants to help construct the training school and purchase model water treatment technologies.
